LGA – LaGuardia Airport, New York City, a fine place
Prior to 1929, the premises of LGA LaGuardia Airport housed an amusement park. In 1937, the land and adjoining land was purchased by New York City authorities and it has grown into a busy terminal which handles close to 25 million passengers a year.
LGA is situated in the Northern Queens District of New York, about 8 miles from Manhattan. If you are ‘overnighting’ as part of a longer holiday or business trip, this is certainly a good place to land. The airport is named after Fiorello LaGuardia, a former Mayor of New York. Smaller than the other airports in New York, LGA handles largely domestic flights.

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
The LGA Ground Transportation desk staff will assist you with any transport queries you may have. Taxi rides into the city will take you about 30 minutes and will vary in price from $15 to $30 excluding toll fares which cost extra. If you are going to hail a cab, makes sure you have cash on you.

Shuttle bus services are available if you like public transport. If you are travelling light, the subway or city bus services will be fine to get you from point A to B.

There are at least thirty hotels close to the airport and myriad of other options such as motels and bed and breakfasts hotels, so finding accommodation in the vicinity of LGA is not a problem. Many of the surrounding hotels do not charge extra if you have not booked beforehand. The Clarion Hotel LaGuardia Airport is literally across the road from the terminal.

Maybe you should ask how do I choose where to eat? If the accommodation you have chosen is not an establishment which serves meals, there are many cafes and restaurants in the vicinity from which to choose.
WHAT TO SEE?
As with all the hotels in close proximity to LGA, visitors are just minutes away from many popular tourist attractions such as the Statue of Liberty and Central Park. Outings from your hotel to Broadway and Times Square will make your stay over well worth it. Being so close to Manhattan, take a trip using public transport and soak up the sights.
